League Round 8 Team; First Half of Season

After the first half of the season, Uni High and U-High both remain undefeated and lead their respective divisions. The championship will probably hinge on the final round match between these two teams. Bismarck has the next best record, at 6-2; Bismarck lost to Mahomet and rebounded to win against Olympia. Mahomet, 5-3, then went on to lose to Georgetown, giving Mr. Corbin and the Buffaloes their first win of the season. LaSalette is also 5-3, losing against Heyworth (3-5) and beating Danville (2-6).

The other teams are Urbana (3-5), Mattoon still looking for their first win, last year's West winner Charleston (4-4), and Olympia (2-6).

League Round 8 Individual

With the season half over, here are the top twelve individuals: 1. George Ruan, Uni; 2. Josh Ayers, U-High; 3. Nathan Fritz, Charleston; 4. Max Sigalov, Uni; 5. Ken Albin, Bismarck; 6. League Round 6 Team

After six rounds, there are two undefeated teams: Uni High in the East and U-High in the West. Both lab schools are also at the top in point totals. Bismarck is now 5-1; the team is dedicated, hard working, and continuously improving. Even after losing several key players from last year, Bismarck continues to be a force in the ECICL. LaSalette and Mahomet are both 4-2. Mahomet picked off Charleston twice; this has to be welcome news to Mr. Pirtle, who saw his team struggle early on in the season. LaSalette actually lost its last two matches to a resurgent Bismarck.

The remaining teams are Charleston (3-3), Urbana (2-4), Heyworth (2-4), and Danville (2-2). Georgetown, Mattoon, and Olympia are still trying to get their first win.

League Round 6 Individual

After six rounds, the top 12 are the following: 1. Nathan Fritz, Charleston, 90; 1. George Ruan, Uni, 90; 3. Josh Ayers, U-High, 89; 4. Ken Albin, Bismarck, 81; 5. Max Sigalov, Uni, 78; 6. Nathan Beauchamp, Uni, 66; 7. Jacob White, Bismarck, 65; 8. Stephen Bloch, LaSalette, 63; 9. Kaleb Schwaiger, Mahomet, 58.5; 10. Cole Frank, U-High, 58; and in a four-way tie for 11th place Alex Russell, Heyworth; Thomas Buschmann, LaSalette; Nicholas Jemison, LaSalette; and Evan Millam, Mahomet, all at 54.

There are players that moved out of the top 12 as well as up. As can be seen, every point counts, with some within 0.5 points of the nearest opponent. Close behind is 15th place Shawn Lu of Uni at 50 (and playing 4th or 5th board, this shows the tremendous job he is doing). Also, there are several undefeated players.
