League Championship: January 28, 2012

The Doug Phenicie League Championship was held January 28, 2012, at Normal Community High School. Garrett Scott, Erik Rich, and Jerry Parker organized the tournament. The facilities and schedule were excellent. Over 20 players had a perfect record for the day.

The Division 3 winner was LaSalette JV. They outperformed the other five teams in their division.

The Division 2 winner was Normal Community on tie breaks, with three other teams going 2-1: Urbana, Charleston, and Olympia.

The Division 1 winner was Bloomington. Bloomington went 3-0 and took down East Champion Uni High in the last round.

In the East-West match-up, the West won two of three divisions. A total of sixteen teams competed in three divisions. The tournament is named for Doug Phenicie, a Georgetown-Ridge Farm graduate that died in a car accident at 19 years of age. The previous year he led Georgetown-Ridge Farm to the 1989 IHSA State Championship. Doug displayed a level of sportsmanship and maturity that serves as an exemplary goal for all players.
